Plough pebbles represent the single most numerous artefactual witness to medieval ploughing in Ireland, while cultivation furrows also reveal the practice of arable activities. It is noticeable, however, that the picture is at a slight variance to the pattern of land-use indicated from the extent data, presented on Figure 9.1.
