There are almost 300 churches of medieval date in the Dublin region, including parish churches, subsidiary churches and chapels of ease.

Most of these churches have some visible remains- some are still functioning, some are largely intact but roofless, others have only minor structural remains. In some cases, all physical trace of the church has disappeared, but the site is known from documentary or cartographic sources or because of a place name.
