Well-made piece. Produced from wide longitudinal segment of longbone wall of large animal. Wide rectangular in cross-section with slight trace of marrow cavity on front surface. Sides are vaguely rounded and adopt even taper to point from 8mm below top. Sides become more rounded towards working end and the final 6mm adopts a finely circular cross-section, continuing to taper to point, tip of which is now broken. Upper sides display clearly visible horizontal file marks. Rounded part of working end shows very fine surface polish with no manufacture marks visible. Underside also has surface sheen though natural bone surface texture has not been worked away.
