At the northern end of cutting 1, Dún Aonghasa, the finds associated with the large hearth were all of late Bronze Age, or likely late Bronze Age, date.

At the southern end of cutting 1, Dún Aonghasa, the prehistoric levels were heavily disturbed by later activity and intrusive finds were relatively common.

Despite the loose dry condition of the soils at Dún Aonghasa, smaller bones - such as these fish bones in the top archaeology (F22) - survived quite well. Larger mammal bones and limpet shells were much more fragmented.
