Central area of Cutting 1 after removal (and bagging up) of the fine wind-blown soils in 1992. Adjacent to the eastern balk (at top of picture) only a thin sod covered the bedrock. The remains of Structure 2 (centre of picture) and the pathway leading up to it also lay under a shallow cover of soils. Looking northeast.
